Detroit Lions NFC North Odds 2026: From Last to Favourites
Scoring more than almost anyone and finishing bottom of your own division should not go together, and Detroit Lions betting odds have to price both.

Detroit put up 481 points last season, fourth most in the NFL and third in the NFC behind only the Rams and Seattle.

Seven and Four, Then Two Wins in Six
The collapse had a shape. Detroit started 7-4 and won two of their last six.
They were swept by Minnesota and lost consecutive games for the first time since October 2022.
The season ended by beating the division winning Bears 19-16 on a 42-yard Jake Bates field goal as time expired, having led 16-0. That is the season in one afternoon.
Dan Campbell took play calling off the offensive coordinator John Morton after eight games, and Morton was sacked at the end of a single season in the job.
Drew Petzing, 38, arrived as offensive coordinator from three seasons in the same role at Arizona. He coached tight ends and quarterbacks under Kevin Stefanski at Cleveland before that.
Kelvin Sheppard stays on defence and Dave Fipp on special teams.
The Points Came From Everywhere and Still Were Not Enough
Jack Campbell was a first team All-Pro with 176 combined tackles. Amon-Ra St. Brown made the second team with 1,401 receiving yards and eleven touchdowns.
Jared Goff went to the Pro Bowl with 34 touchdowns against eight interceptions and a 105.5 rating. Jahmyr Gibbs went with 1,223 rushing yards and thirteen scores.
Gibbs is 6.50 for most rushing touchdowns, favourite on that board, and 8.00 for most rushing yards. St. Brown is 8.00 for most receiving touchdowns and Goff 8.50 for most passing yards.
Four players from a last placed team sit inside the ten shortest prices on their respective markets.
Detroit traded the running back David Montgomery to Houston in March for an offensive lineman and two picks, saving roughly 3.5 million dollars.
He had a career low 716 yards while playing all seventeen games for the first time.
They released Graham Glasgow, Taylor Decker and Josh Paschal, and the tackle Dan Skipper retired in January.
Both Starting Safeties Open the Season Unavailable
Kerby Joseph, with a knee injury, and Brian Branch, who tore an Achilles in the first week of December, both opened on the reserve list and will miss at least the first four games.
Detroit's bye falls in Week 6, so a realistic return is Week 5 at the earliest and more likely Week 7.
For a club that conceded 413 points while scoring 481, losing both starting safeties for a quarter of the season is the least convenient injury available.
The Canadian offensive lineman Giovanni Manu, born in Tonga and raised in Pitt Meadows, British Columbia, is on the non-football injury list with a summer problem Campbell put at twelve to fourteen weeks.
He was drafted 126th overall in 2024 out of the University of British Columbia.
Detroit's other Canadian, the linebacker Amen Ogbongbemiga, was released at the cutdown.
The club kept only two quarterbacks and four receivers on the initial 53, alongside eleven defensive linemen.

What Has to Go Right
Two things, and the first is already in trouble.
The defence has to improve on 413 points without its two starting safeties for at least a month.
The second is the division. Detroit are shortest at 2.55 in a group where the reigning champions are 4.00 and Green Bay 3.25, having finished below both of them.
They play New England at the Allianz Arena in Munich in November as the designated home team, their first international game since 2015, and open at home to New Orleans.
The win line is 10.5 and the market leans over it at 1.80, on a club that won nine.
Detroit are being priced on the 481 rather than the 9-8, and that is a defensible reading. It requires the points to arrive again and the defence to stop giving them back.
